The chances of finding a Cimarron-Memorial student who has not heard of the band 7 Foot Midget are quickly diminishing and with the bands upcoming CD debut, they will only gain more recognition and become more widely known.

Over the summer, this completely composed quartet composed of Jay Losey on drums, Jonn Losey bassist, Nick Vincent lead vocals/guitars, and Nick Whalen on guitars, recorded four songs for their first full length CD and added new ones to their repertoire. The CD is expected to be released after Christmas and should feature at least 12 songs.

7 Foot Midget describes themselves as "burlesque" and describes their music as "fast, melodic punk rock." "Actually, our songs are progressively getting more melodious," says Vincent.

Their music hasn't come without hard work though. Being in a band requires a lot of time management and dedication because sacrifices have to be made for the band. "We have to make time for the band's necessities; playing shows, practicing and writing new material," admits Vincent.

This goofy bunch of guys, who currently average 17 years old, have already accomplished a lot, according to the band. They recently added to their mounting success with a performance all the way in Pharump with Happy Campers, a local Las Vegas punk band. This was 7 Foot Midget's first out of town show. They hope to soon begin doing more shows out of town. In the past, they have shared the stage with such big punk bands as the Ataris, Straight Faced, and the Dickies. They have previously performed at such venues as the Huntridge, the Castle, the now debunk Ozone and countless house parties.

The band member's parents are as supportive as parents can be despite the fact that they don't necessarily see this as a realistic career. Their parents would much rather see them getting themselves into a profession which is more stable, but the guys plan on keeping the band going. "We will continue doing this as long as we're still having fun and being nerds," admitted Losey.

After graduation, Whalen, Vincent, and the Losey brothers plan on continuing their education in Nevada, while continuing the band. "We would like to possibly get somewhere with the band and eventually achieve nirvana," commented Whalen.

7 Foot Midget inspires others by saying, "Don't play punk rock, its not profitable. Do what you want because it's what you want to do, not because somebody's telling you to do it."
