Big-ass update time. First off, we have confirmed all the shows for our CALIZONIA WINTER TOUR 2001 with fellow Vegas buds Mercury Sky. Big thanks to Keith Holsey for helping us out with the Cali shows. For the schedule of shows and info, please check the shows page
Sad news - the Huntridge Theatre here in Vegas has been sold (rumor has it that it will be turned into a furniture store - blech!). Good news - we are playing the last show there ever with GUTTERMOUTH on NEW YEAR'S EVE!!! (that's December 31st, for all you slow kids out there). This will definitely be a bitchin' show, not to mention all the historical shit, so you should definitely BE THERE! More info & bands to be announced in due time...
Also, in case anyone already has plans for New Year's Eve and can't make it to the Guttermouth show, we are playing another show here in Vegas on Friday, January 4th at the Brick House with Mercury Sky, Good Talk Russ (from Tucson, AZ), and Last Minute (from Cali). Admission's only $5, so if you don't have the pocket change for the Guttermouth show, just come to this show and pretend they're playing. It works, I promise.
Ok, now that the show crap is outta the way, on to some 7 Foot news 'n shit...
Well, you probably heard by now that Yellowcard cancelled on us at the last minute on the day of their show here. They had van problems the day before and had to take it in for repairs. So I'd like to apologize to everybody who came out to see them, and I'd like to thank everybody who stayed at the show even though they weren't playing anymore. It was a pretty good show despite the unpleasant surprise.
Good news - our website is now hosted on www.sincitymusic.com, so now you no longer have to put up with those annoying Angelfire banners! Much thanks to Brant Polkowski for helping us out with that. More site stuff to come - new bios (those old ones had to be 2 or 3 years old), new photos (those old pics were probably the same age as the bios..), and more stuff (buttons, stickers, etc.) added to the merch page.
We just finished up recording two brand new songs for a demo to send to labels. One song is called "To Fame and Fortune" and was written and sung by Nick Whalen and the other is called "The Organization of Nonconformists" and was written and sung by Nick Vincent. Both songs are now posted on www.mp3.com/7footmidget, so go give 'em a listen and let us know what you think. Or learn the words so you can sing along at the next show! (yeah, riiiiiight...)
Anyways, that's about all I can think of right now. Hopefully we'll get to see some familiar faces on tour! Everybody have a good holiday season and we'll see you next year!

Hello, all you Midgeteers. I've got some news about the Yellowcard show this Friday, November 16th. First of all, it got moved to The Brick House, so mark that in your pocketbook planners. Also, Vegas band Aging Process will be replacing Boredom, who cancelled. For more details on the show, check out our shows page.
Ok, so a few weeks after we set up this show we found out that No Use For A Name is playing somewhere else the same night. So here are 7 reasons why you should come to this show instead of the NUFAN show:
1. I love NUFAN too, but honestly - you have seen them like 50 million times, and they don't even have any new material this time around! They are only on tour for that live album they just put out = a bunch of songs you've heard first on their CDs, then you heard them play live the last time you saw them, then you heard them play live on the live album, and now you're hearing them play live once again... are you really that bored?
2. Yellowcard is an up and coming band with a truly original style. I mean, how many punk bands have a violin player? (and Green Day's "Good Riddance" song does NOT count...) Here's my best attempt at describing them to someone who hasn't heard them before... think Saves the Day's album "Through Being Cool"... now minus that whine from the vocals.. now add better and more complex drop-D guitar parts... add better melody and back up vocals... and lastly add a violin. But don't take my word for it (just call me LeVar) - go check out some of their music at www.mp3.com/yellowcard - I highly recommend "October Nights" - it got me pretty much hooked.
3. I guarantee you our show is MUCH cheaper than the NUFAN show.
4. Girls (and some guys??) - you don't have a chance in hell of sleeping with Tony Sly from No Use. However, here's a great opportunity to sleep with one of the members of Yellowcard before they blow up and get huge! Then when they get really popular, you can tell all your friends and they won't believe you. Unless you get pregnant of course, and then maybe you can score child support!
5. At the NUFAN show, you have to wait through all the shitty bands until you get to see the good band you came to see. But at the Yellowcard show, it's the complete opposite - all the good bands play first and the shitty band (us) plays last. So you can just leave after the good bands and not even have to see the shitty band!
6. Seriously though, we need all the support we can get for this show because we need to pay two touring bands so they can pay for gas and get to the next show.
7. There is a ping pong table, a pool table, and a basketball court inside the Brick House - you won't be getting any of that at NUFAN!!!
That's about all I wanted to say. Hopefully we'll see some of you kids at the show Friday!

Howdy folks. Quick 7FM update here. A couple of new venues are opening up here in Vegas soon and we've got a bunch of bitchin' shows coming up. The first (and raddest) one is this Saturday (Oct. 27th) at Tremors with Death By Stereo and Faded Grey! I believe they are pre-selling tickets at Tribal Body Piercing at 4800 S. Maryland. This show is going to be huge and it's almost sure to sell out, so either get your ticket early or get to the show early! Also, another frickin' rad show we have coming up is with Yellowcard on Nov. 16th at The Cellar!! If you haven't heard of these guys yet, go download some of their music because they are fucking awesome! They just put out a CD on Lobster Records and they have a violin player! Also playing is Boredom from Florida, Lost For Words from Arizona, and a new local band called Beneath The Wheel. So please come out and support these touring bands. For more info on either of these shows, just check out the shows page.
Other stuff... well, we are in the process of setting up a winter tour with local buds Mercury Sky (who recently changed their name from 3rd Man In, for those of you who don't get out much). The tour will probably be about 2 weeks long and we'll be hitting up Southern Cali, Arizona, El Paso, and Albuquerque for sure. As usual, anyone who can help set up a show or offer a place to stay or anything, please e-mail us and let us know. We will love you for it... ::wink wink:: You know what I mean, baby...
We are currently working on some new material that we are very stoked about. We are planning to go into the studio in early December to demo a couple songs to send to labels. So I guess we'll see how that goes. Maybe we'll post one on the site or something.
That's it for now. Come to our shows and buy lots of stuff from us so we can get out of debt!

Just some site news here - the music page has been renamed to the multimedia page, because we now have a music video! Our buds Nick and Will from Huntington Beach filmed us at a few shows in California during the summer and put together a rad video for our song "A Profane Statement." We didn't really have anything to do with putting it together (other than the fact that we're in it), but we were very impressed with the job they did, so we put it on our multimedia page for all to see. For now, the video is in only available in Windows Media Player format, but we might have it converted to other formats if we get enough requests/complaints. Also, since the compilation CD it was supposed to appear on never saw the light of day, we decided to put the MP3 of our cover of "Happy Together" on the multimedia page - look for it in the new section called miscellaneous & unreleased crap.
In somewhat related news, we have moved most of our audio files to www.mp3.com/7footmidget. You can still get to them from our multimedia page, you will just have to go through an extra page to get to the music. We made this decision because this way people can still listen to them for free, but now we get paid for it. Pretty cool deal, huh? We also do this so that listeners can choose between streaming the audio or downloading it in MP3 form. Aren't we the considerate ones?
Anyways, that's about it for now - hopefully we'll have some shows coming up in the near future.

Alright, brace yourselves - this will probably be a long update. I mean, I have to account for like three whole months here, and we've actually been accomplishing stuff lately, so let's see here...
Show crap - we are playing a FREE show at the Batcave Comic Shop this Saturday, September 1st, with 3rd Man In and Kicked Outta Camp We know you have nothing better to do, and since the show is FREE maybe you can buy some comics while you're there. For more info, check out our shows page. More shows coming soon...
CD Crap - We FINALLY released "Erectnaphobia" (our first full-length CD, if ya didn't know already) back in June. The CD Release Show/Underwear Show #4 at the Sanctuary was awesome! Thanks to our good buddies 3rd Man In, 2 Cents Worth, and Happy Campers for playing (in their undies) and also to all the folks who came to the show. If you didn't get our CD yet, you can buy it from us at one of our shows or you can order it from us on our merch page. We also posted some MP3s from the CD on our music page, so check 'em out.
Tour Crap - As many of you know already, we went on TWO tours of the western U.S. this summer (our first two tours ever!), and we can safely say it was seriously the funnest time we've ever had. We spent over 6 weeks out on the road and we played a total of 29 shows in 22 cities in 9 different states. We went on the first tour by ourselves, and somehow we managed to convince our buddy Robin Steffen to drop everything, quit his job, and go on the road with us for the first tour, so huge thanks goes to Robin for the fun times and the sexual favors.. uh, I mean, uh... for being our roadie... yea.. We did the second tour with fellow local loser band Happy Campers, so huge thanks to Isaac, Gene, and Logan for being our touring partners and for trying not to smell too bad for the most part. If you want to read what IsaacCampa had to say about the tour (I think he sums it up better than I can), check it out here. We even got to play with Good Riddance, Death By Stereo, and Kill Your Idols in El Paso, Texas! It was rad, we got to hang out with Efrem and the guys from Death, they were really cool, down-to-earth guys. It's nice to meet bands that are making it big but don't get big heads along with it. Anyways, we were really lucky because we never had to sleep in the van (there was always some wonderfully nice person who let us sleep on their floor). I would sit here and try to list every single rad person we need to thank and every rad band we met on the road but I'm sure I'd forget a bunch of them and end up pissing alot of people off. So, suffice to say, if you deserve thanks from us, you should already know who you are - THANK YOU!!! But yeah, touring was way fun, and we'll definitely be doing a lot more of it in the future.
Okay, just one exception - everyone should go check out this band called HeyMike! from Bakersfield, CA. We spent the last 5 days of the first tour with them and they are my new favorite band. They are so good I had to mention them. Really great guys to hang out with, too. Go to www.mp3.com/heymike and download stuff.
Site crap - I know it looks like we haven't updated this thing in ages, but actually there is a lot of new stuff. The merch page is finally finished, so now people can mail order our stuff from our website. If you didn't know, we have two new t-shirt designs, so check 'em out. Next we added links to all the bands we played with on tour and we also updated our Vegas band links on our links page. Also I added a past shows page to our shows section, for people who have nothing better to do than to waste their lives away with trivial nonsense (like me). It was brought to our attention that somehow our music page got messed up while we were out on tour and the MP3s wouldn't download, so I fixed that too (hopefully it stays that way this time). We also posted Las Vegas CityLife's review of our CD on our press page, even though they make fun of our singing voices, heh. Coming soon... new pictures from our tours, new updated bio profiles, and a rad music video for our song "A Profane Statement," courtesy of our buds in the good ol' HB.
Well, I think that's it for now. Now that we're back in town for a while we'll try and keep the news updates more current. Thanks for reading all this gibberish. Adios.

Update from Midgetopia...
Our recent shows in California and Idaho went really well. Thanks goes out to HB Surround Sound in California, local heros Happy Campers (they should have won that Battle of the Bands if you ask me), and Jaster, Tom, and Silent Records in Idaho for all the great help and fun times.
Ok, we know you're all wondering about the CD... we're finally completely finished with the recording and at the moment we are just finishing up the layout. We will have a few mp3s from the new album posted up here real soon. Everything should be sent out to the manufacturer this week and we are hoping to get it back by June. Plans are in the works for a CD Release Show/Underwear Show #4 sometime in June, so stay tuned for those details.
We are also in the process of setting up a summer CD release tour (our first) during June and early July. If all goes well, we will be visiting the west coast and also some midwestern states. We have been confirming tour dates and soon we'll have them posted on our Shows page. If you think you can help us at all, whether you can help us get a show in your town or offer us a place to stay for the night or whatever, please e-mail Nick Whalen at hitwithuglystick@hotmail.com.
We are going to be playing the 1st Annual Huntridge Music Festival on Sunday, May 27th (Monday = Memorial Day = NO SCHOOL) with Voodoo Glow Skulls and Buck-O-Nine and a whole slew of other bands who we do not know of at this point in time. This should be a rad show, check back later for more details.
We have a new address - you can send real mail to us at:
7 Foot Midget
P.O. Box 71385
Las Vegas, NV 89170-1385 |
Yeah, this one was short - soon we'll have new mp3s, new shows, and hopefully in the coming month, a new site design. Keep checkin' back.

No, we're not dead. No, we have not disappeared into the nothingness void that seems destined to claim every Vegas band that manages to hang around for more than a year or so. Yes, we are still a band. No, we haven't had any lineup changes. Yes, we are almost done recording the album, yes, we are finally ready to come out of hibernation, and yes, we do have some upcoming shows finally. And yes, I know it's been a long time since we last updated the news. Thing is, we really haven't had much to update about. Until recently, that is. But all your questions will be answered in good time, my dear padawan. First, let us go back to an earlier point in time...
Our show at the Huntridge with Guttermouth back in December was pretty rad, except for the fact that Nick Whalen's guitar shorted out four songs into the set. At the time, he thought it was his amp, so we just had to play the rest of the set without him. But other than that unfortunate turn of events, the show was awesome. The other two bands that ended up playing were Union 13 and Longfellow. For those who are wondering, we did play the infamous "I Wanna Fuck Your Mom" song. And this time around, the First Amendment prevailed - we got away with it. (HA!) Anyways, something like 900 people came out to see the show and we sold a lot of merch, so that was really cool. We even got to talk to Mark from Guttermouth, who, despite all the asshole lyrics, is actually a pretty nice guy. You can check out what he had to say about the show (and what he had to say about us!) on the Tour Stories page on Guttermouth's website (you might have to scroll down a bit to find it).
We have a really rad show coming up for you. On Thursday, March 15th at the Sanctuary we'll be playing with our very good friends HB Surround Sound from Huntington Beach, California. I know most of you here in Vegas have never heard of this band, so let me take a minute to describe them to you. They play some great fast-angry-punk songs that sound very similar in style to Pennywise and then they bust out with some rad reggae tunes that make you think of Sublime. And their drummer sings a bunch of the songs! They have sound clips on their website at www.hbsurroundsound.com, so go check them out if you get a chance. They just an awesome band and also some of the nicest guys we've ever met. And please, if you have nothing better to do, come out to the Sanctuary on March 15th and see these guys rock out along with us, A.D.D., First Grade Project, and Happy Campers - it's only $5.00. Check our shows page for more details.
Also, if we have any fans in California (we can dream, can't we?), we are going to be playing at Hogué Barmichael's in Newport Beach, CA on Friday, March 16th with HB Surround Sound and Happy Campers. More info on our shows page.
We've been in and out of the studio for the past four months or so and we're finally finishing up our recording. We only have a couple more back-up vocals left to record. However, we still have a lot of work to do before we can release the CD, including mixing and mastering the recording, getting the layout done, and sending it away to the manufacturer. But now that the hard part is over, we are going to start playing shows more often, so keep an eye out for flyers with our name on it. At this point, setting a release date for the CD is futile because we really have no clue when it will be out, but we are pretty sure we'll have this album out before summer starts. Which brings us to another news tidbit...
We are trying to set up a summer tour, mostly around the west coast. If you can help us at all, e-mail Nick Whalen at hitwithuglystick@hotmail.com and let him know what's up.
That's about all for now, folks. I'll try to keep this piece of shit webpage updated more often from now on. SEE YOU AT THE SHOW ON MARCH 15TH!!
