Two shows this Saturday - The Vegas AmJam and the AmJam After Party.. all the pertinent info is on the shows page. And just to let you know, we will be playing mostly new material at the earlier show, but there will be some older songs at the after party. But either show you attend, it's safe to say you will hear us play the theme song from everybody's favorite video game plumber...
In other good news, we finally actually updated the website for once. Here's the rundown:
- Added Mike's Bio
- Finally added the lyrics page, complete with lyrics for all our new songs
- Posted lots of new photos, including some from Mike's first show and lots of us in the studio
See ya at the show(s) Saturday!

Greetings from those who are known as 7 Foot Midget.
The new recording is sounding very "different" and also "good." However, for reasons beyond our control, the process has taken much longer than anticipated... first there was disease and pestilence... then there were faulty tape reels and ruined vocal tracks... but fear not, we have made the proper sacrifices to the analog tape gods and we are confident our prayers will be answered.
Now to the more pressing matter at hand - we will be making two appearances this month in realtime live action and full technicolor surround sound... Oct 17 at Doggystyle and Oct 25 at Desert Breeze Skate Park. The second show is with Autopilot Off and is sure to be a doozy. Full details are on the shows page.
See, hear the difference. Taste, smell the hotdogs. Because it's fucking beautiful in Philadelphia right now, and I don't necessarily mean the weather. But the customer service is downright atrocious.

Greetings from camp 7 Foot Midget. Tomorrow we begin recording four songs with Jesse of Loud Pipes fame.
Two of the songs, "To Fame and Fortune" and "Fifteen Minutes," fall in our "older new songs" category that are sort of a mix of our older sound and some newer influences. The lyrics of both songs deal with excessive greed and fame in the music industry, but from opposite perspectives. These songs will be released this fall/winter as a two-song CD single tentatively titled "Two Sides to Every Coin."
The other two songs, "Where Fools Will Follow" and "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is," are extremely new and are a bit of a different direction for us. The result of a more mature and well-thought out song-writing process, these songs have more of a heavy driving rhythm and experiment with some odd time signatures and chord progressions. They will be posted on our website and sent as demos to labels and all that jazz.
It's nice to have finally have some new material to show people. Three of these songs were debuted at our Smoothie King show earlier this month (in between power outages and smoothie-tossing) and it was awesome to get so much positive feedback on the new material.
In other news, we will be playing a free show with Autopilot Off at Desert Breeze Skatepark in Vegas on October 25th. More info on this to come soon.
P.S. Nick Vincent bought a new guitar last week! Gibson SG = Happy Nick.

Hope all is well in no-life-internerd-land. I gotta warn you guys off the bat - this one is going to be a little long, 'cuz I've got a lot to touch on.
First off, I want to address something that's been an issue with some of our fans lately. Many of you have been asking us why we don't play many of our older songs from Erectnaphobia. What you have to understand is that we released that album over 2 years ago, and most of the songs on it were written 4-6 years ago. I'd be willing to bet that most people probably don't have the same exact ideas, opinions, and tastes now as they did 6 years ago. All these things evolve with time.
The same is true of us and our music. We've been basically playing the same old songs at every show for the past 2 or 3 years, and by now we'd expect you to be pretty tired of hearing them. (We're tired of playing them!) We're proud of what we've done, but it's definitely time we do something new. Some bands get stuck in the rut of writing the same album over and over again, and we want to avoid that.
We know it's hard to follow along with a bunch of songs you've never heard before, so we do our best to still play some of our older songs at our shows. (Family Values, Profane Statement, Tightrope Without A Net, Still Searching, & Toys R Us Kid are some songs that will still be in our regular rotation.) But we've got a lot of new material, and we're gradually working more and more of it into our set.
We understand that some of our fans may like the older songs better, and unfortunately that's just how it goes sometimes. If there are two goals that we've always pursued as a band, they are to continue learning and progressing musically and to create the music that we'd like to hear ourselves. We'd like to believe that the people who truly support and enjoy our band will understand and give us the room to grow musically as we see fit.
With that out of the way, we are very happy and excited to announce that we have got our groove back. And what I mean by that is, we're going to be doing stuff. I mean, ACTUALLY DOING stuff. A lot of stuff.
For starters, things have been going so well with our temporary drummer Mike Reilly that we have decided to upgrade him to permanent status. He has been learning our songs at a super-human speed and we think he is a perfect fit for our band - musically, personally, and creatively. He will certainly be a great help in getting our new music ready for our next CD releases.
You're asking yourself, "Did he just type CD releases, as in plural?" I sure did. Right now we have plans to go into the studio next month to record 4 new songs, 2 of which we will be self-releasing as a CD single, tentatively titled "Two Sides to Every Coin." The other 2 songs are going to be sent out as demos to record labels in an attempt to get someone to pay for our next full-length album, which we would ideally begin recording for late this winter. If all goes well, we should be on the road promoting a brand spankin' new record this coming summer. But don't quote me on that!
Also, I know I already mentioned this in the last update, but we have a new t-shirt design, new button pins, and a new poster for sale, with many more new designs in the works. Many people have been taking advantage of the fact that we can take credit cards online now, which is really cool. We love getting mail orders, especially from other states we never knew existed. For people who can't swipe Mom's Mastercard, we still take checks, money orders, and cash through the mail. See our Merch page for more details.
Lastly here, we have a show coming up at Smoothie King. It will be our first show with Mike so it should be a lot of fun. It's also a benefit show for Shade Tree Shelter for Homeless Women and Children. We'll be debuting this rad new song that doesn't even have a title yet. It's got a 7/4 rhythm though, so don't try and bob your head... check the shows page for more info.
Alright, if you read this far... thanks so much. We'll see you at the show.

Hello. We are playing a rather large show with Guttermouth, Agent Orange, and Happy Campers at The Huntridge on August 23. Check the shows page for more details. We will have new shirts, new buttons, and new posters, all with brand-new, über-cool designs. We will be getting these up on the merch page very soon. The old designs will soon disappear into obscurity, so get them while supplies last.
Unfortunately, we have some bad news - this show will be our last with Oscar. He is a very talented drummer, but his schedule has been hard to juggle with. This has led to difficulties in progressing further as a band, so we have decided to part ways. He is a very cool guy and an awesome musician, and we just want to thank him and wish him the very best in his future endeavors. Thanks, Oscar!
What we want in a drummer is... a passion for music and attention to detail... the ability to play our existing music and the capacity to learn and grow with us... flexibility to practice and play shows but reliability to hold commitments. And it doesn't hurt to be a nice person. We want to write, record, play, and tour, and we want a drummer who is as serious about our band as we are.
Currently, we are jamming with Mike Reilly (from Mercury Sky) on drums, so we will still be playing shows around Vegas and working new songs into our set. In fact, we'll be playing a show at Smoothie King on September 6th, so stay tuned for more info on that.

Hello there. This site was looking a little un-updated lately, so just to let you know what we've been up to... School's out! We played a couple cool shows in May, and now it's more time off for songwriting and shite. If you happened to attend either show, you got a nice little taste of some of the new stuff we've been cooking up. We've also got some new shirt designs in the works. No upcoming shows for the time being while we hole ourselves up in Whalen's garage and try to see what kind of weird noises our instruments can produce. Anyone want to fund our next album...?

Hey everybody - notice anything different? Hope so - you're looking at the brand new, version 3.0 of the 7 Foot Midget website! We hope you dig. All sections of the site are up and operational except for the lyrics page and the other downloads page (both found under Media). We will also be adding many more photos in the days to come. So take a look around and let us know what you think.
One important new website feature we would like to point out is that we can now accept credit card orders for our merch. So all you kids out there, break out daddy's plastic and go hogwild!
As for band news, we have been working on a new batch of songs, so the next time we play a show we should have a lot of new stuff to show off.

So, if you missed it, we got to open up for Finch last week, and it was pretty effin' rad! I guess there were over 1100 people there, and the show sold out. Pretty crazy shit! We were pretty nervous since it was our first show in three months, but we all managed to either (1) not wet ourselves onstage or (2) hide our pee stains very well. We even managed to get a pretty good response from the crowd, considering the bands we opened up for were of the wear-black-shirts-at-all-times and scream-til-your-throat-bleeds variety. (Not that there's anything wrong with that! I love hearing adolescent boys scream! Tee hee!)
Which brings me to another rather big announcement. As you all know, Jay left quite a pair of shoes to fill when he quit the band for a life of bad camping puns back in October. Not only is he one of the very best drummers in town, but he also held the highly coveted position of Band Babe Magnet here at 7 Foot Midget. His is not an easy spot to fill, but we have finally found the right guy for the job. We are very happy to announce that Oscar Garcia is now our permanent drummer! He is a highly talented percussionist, as well as an all-around swell guy, and also we hear he has a big one. In any event, he has already amassed quite a female fan club, so at least now Jonn can finally rest at night knowing he won't be the one who has to take up the Babe Magnet duties. Phew!!
Last of all, like I said in the last news update, go to the benefit show with Yellowcard this Saturday! Scroll down to read more about it - I'm too lazy to type it all again.

Hopefully this update finds everyone in good spirits. Happy belated holidays and new year and all that stuff. I just wanted to remind everybody that we're still a band! After a few months on hiatus and some soul-searching (who am I kidding, we are soul-less bastards..), we are going to start playing shows again. In fact, we've got two coming up at The Huntridge with some pretty good bands. The first is on Friday, January 17 with Finch, From Autumn To Ashes, and Steel Train. The second is on Saturday, February 1 with Yellowcard, Slick Shoes, Park, and Rudiger. For more details check out the shows page.
The Yellowcard show on Feb. 1st is a benefit show for a friend's family who was in a very serious car accident back in November. The mother did not survive the crash and the father broke both his legs and will not able to walk or work for several months. All the bands are playing for free and the proceeds are going to help pay for the medical bills. It's going to be a bunch of great bands playing for a good cause, so hopefully we'll see a lot of support.
You may be wondering about our drummer situation. For these next two shows we are very happy to be playing with our pal Oscar on the drums. He is a very talented drummer, and you may have already seen him in action with The Pinheads. We are quite stoked to start playing shows again. As for a permanent solution to the drummer search, we have not yet made any permanent decisions at this time.
In website news, I recently started working on a new website design, which I hope to finish sometime this decade. Ha.
Also, I want to mention that our bassist Jonn recently started up a clothing company with a few friends of ours. It's called Corporate Clothing Co. and you can check out their website at www.corporateclothingco.com. Their trucker hats are the shit.
Okay I'm done babbling now. Hope to see ya at the shows.
